How To Make Windows 7 Run Faster

Its quite evident that the persons who've tried Vista and were disappointed by its shortcomings, and Microsoft answered their prayers with Windows 7. It is basically a better Vista; faster, snappier, and more productive, should I say. But a lot of consumers are still using older Intel Dual Core machines (or even P4's) with only 1GB of RAM and just an on-board graphics processor, so they need to squeeze Windows 7 for performance rather than just all eye-candy.

This is a helpful post for everyone who's sporting Windows 7 on their machines but wants to get more mojo from their grumpy hardware. There are other "ultimate guides" out there that also tackle the same topic, but this guide is basically to pimp up and condition your Windows 7 box for optimum performance. My Blog Is Now Penalized By Google

It was really a big mistake when I migrated all my posts from my Mikeyhacky Blogspot blog here to my self-hosted WP blog. I wasn't aware that Google would spank me with the duplicated content from my old blog to this new one. Now I did some redirection from Blogger to Wordpress from the instructions here. But my problem is that I am now penalized by the Big G. Some of my pages are not indexed, I don't have a pagerank... How do I lift that penalty? I don't know. Hopefully in a few months my blog can be re-indexed.

If you know something that I can do to solve this problem, PLEASE please let me know. :)

WASP 17 - A New Planet Discovered?

I'm not talking about a wasp in the outer space. Sources around the net have been discussing about the newly discovered planet named Wasp 17. This new planet in the Solar System is determined to orbit the wrong way - backward compared to the host star.

It was said that Wasp 17 is 1000 lightyears from earth and its size is double that of Jupiter's. Whoah, that's a huge planet right there! If the planet Wasp 17 would be officially included in the Solar System diagram, it would be the largest known planet in our system.

Goldilocks & Nuffnang Contest Awards Night

Me and Ianne went yesterday to our second bloggers event for the awarding of winners for the "You're the 1, Goldilocks" blog contest with Nuffnang although we were about an hour late. We had an entry for the contest and we actually had high hopes for our entry, but it seems the judges had different winning "preferences". But there's no point being upset, we just enjoyed the night. Dingdong Dantes was present in the event.

It was a fun night, with lots of food and of course, cakes for everyone. Juddha Paolo was also there to host the awarding. The grand winner of the ASUS laptop is Ms. Noemi Dado. Congratulations, madam!

All in all, I think it was a great night. We saw a lot of fellow bloggers (and we ate a lot of food, haha!) Congratulations to all the winners and hopefully another Nuffnang contest to join and another blogger event to attend! More photos of the event after the jump.

Make a Javascript Pop-up That Doesn't Get Blocked and Show it Only Once

I'm honest to say that I am not an expert with client-side scripting, especially Javascript. But I needed a way to show a pop up to a visitor when he visits the site, and only show it once per day.
